As soon as all the kiddos got together it was time to start playing Luigis Mansion.
Every time they get together, they continue on their saved
game from the last time. It's really cute.
Bill brought Hanabi with him. This was the first time Kevin, Todd, Elissa, or Brad has played. I sat out and took pictures and laughed or moaned watching as players selected their cards. The game is similar to Indian poker in that you don't know what cards you have, but you can see everybody else's cards. You work together to win by giving hints as to what's in each others hands.
Overall an interesting game.
Hanabi is a coop game. You are setting off a fireworks show and depending on how well you do is how well you are "remembered". Well, the group did well by missing out by just a few points
on being legendary. Speaking of Legendary.....
Todd was yet to play the new expansion for Legendary: Dark Cities. Well, I figured the only way to properly introduce it is to play the most hated Mastermind EVER! Apocalypse! The scheme was Earthquake Generator.
We played with all the new expansion heroes, villians, ect.....Todd is dumbfounded. Todd, Elissa, and myself sought out to defeat the evil Apocalypse!
Downstairs, Carmen, Bill, Kevin, and Brad were all playing a 4 player game of Blood Bowl. This was Carmen's first time playing and I was excited to see her give it a try seems how I've owned this game for over 2 years and she's yet to play it with me.
Brad ended up winning, but everybody including Carmen said they really enjoyed playing! YEAH! This means I can finally get her to play a game with me!!!!
Upstairs our game of Legendary was anything but. We were properly stomped by Apocalypse. In the end even though we lost, Elissa had the most points.
It was now time to get my grub on!!! We made chili dogs with all the fixings. As you can see, I was prepared for the inevitable heartburn. Luckily, I never did get heartburn, but man did my belly not like me later after I had a second bowl of just chili!
What's that Bill? Did you say something?
After eating, Elissa really wanted to play Pirates Cove. I was excited to play as well given it's one of my favorite pirate games. Todd, Elissa, Jason, and myself all set out on an adventure!
About mid game, Todd, Jason, and Elissa all ended up at Cannon Island! The battle was pretty intense with Todd coming out on top and claiming the island for himself!
During the game, I got super lucky with the dice. I never did lose a single battle (3-0). At one time I rolled 3 dice and ended up with 3-6's. I was insanely lucky!
Here's what the final score looked like with me winning, Todd in second, Elissa in third, and Jason protecting our backsides.
Todd was happy that he was the only one of us to defeat a pirate. Captain Hook won't be a plundering these seas again. To Davey Jones Locker ye go!
We all joined into one big game of 7 Wonders with Brad, Elissa, Bill, Todd, Kevin, Carmen, and myself.
Brad had accumulated sooooo much science that by the time everybody saw what was happening, it was too late. He ended up winning with a score somewhere in the 70's. Very fun game that I really wanted to play a second time, but.......
We split into two groups again. Well, we kinda split into 3. Brad, Elissa, Bill, and Jakob all played team Ascension. Brad and Elissa tag teamed up for the win!
Downstairs, Kevin was reading up on the rules for Fantastica (sp?).
The kids were fresh out of the swimming pool and back to playing inside.
Meanwhile Carmen was teaching Todd on how to play Agricola: All Creatures Big and Small. Carmen ended up winning in the end, but we're all convinced she cheated. :)
We started playing Fantastica as teams of two. Kevin and Bill vs Todd and myself.
Bill grew bunny ears whil playing. It was the weirdest thing! Kevin and Bill ended up winning in the end. Fantastica was an interesting game. I would like to play it more before giving my final thoughts. Overall, it's certainly different enough from other deckbuilders. My only concern I had was becoming stuck in corners. However with more experience I am sure I could of avoided such calamites.
Last but not least I give you a cute baby photo. She's showing her tummy as she eats her shirt. :)
Overall, I can't wait until next month after Gen Con to get together with my friends and family. Every time we do this (once a month) I am always left thinking how blessed myself and my family is to have such wonderful people in our lives.
